Pétala Barreiros, co-CEO and co-founder of Alpha7 Esports, anchored one of Brazil’s most inspiring esports stories, their triumphant run to claim the PUBG Mobile World Cup at EWC 2025. As one of only three women leading the organization, her leadership and vision reshaped Brazil’s esports narrative.

Building Dreams from Crisis

Founded in early 2020 by Pétala, her sister Yanka, and their mother Eunice, Alpha7 emerged from a personal mission: to support Yanka during a difficult period. Pétala reflects:

“Alpha7 is a family business. My younger sister Yanka had depression and spent her days isolated playing PUBG Mobile. We created Alpha7 to bring her out of her room.”Pétala on why she co-founded the organization

Starting with nothing but determination and love, they built Brazil’s largest PUBG Mobile gaming house during the pandemic—investing over R$ 800 000—and laid the foundation for global success.

Making History in Riyadh

At the Esports World Cup 2025, Alpha7 made history as the first Brazilian team to win a PUBG Mobile world title, defeating Japan’s REJECT in a thrilling final. The victory awarded them US$ 467 312.50 and crucial Club Championship points.

On representing Brazil on a global stage, Pétala shared proudly:

“It's amazing to strengthen our name here in Brazil and to show that we have excellent professionals… and that the work here is really well done.”Pétala after Alpha7 became world champions

Their victory resonated far beyond trophies—serving as proof that female leadership and Brazilian talent can compete with and outshine traditional powerhouses.

Breaking Barriers and Inspiring Change

Alpha7’s win underscored deeper social significance. At the time, 51% of gamers in Brazil were women but leadership roles for women in esports were rare. Pétala addressed the imbalance head-on:

“Since we entered esports, it’s been a fight. There’s still a lot of prejudice, but we’re not giving up. We want to carry this reference for women globally.”Pétala on the importance of female leadership in gaming

Their journey from a supportive family act to global champions—has become a beacon for aspiring female entrepreneurs and pro players alike.

Recognition Beyond Competition

Pétala and her sister Yanka received global recognition, earning spots on the Forbes Under 30 list in December 2024 a testament to their impact inside and outside of esports.

Under their leadership, Alpha7 continued to expand across multiple titles, invest in player wellness, and shape a culture of inclusion and professional excellence in their Brazil-based hub and across international branches.
